Why I want to go to Buenos Aires

I thought I would add a section to personally explain what interests me about the places that I am posting references for and why I would want to visit that city.
My interest in Buenos Aires was peaked several years ago when I read an article which described Buenos Aires as the “Paris of the South”. Â The capitol of Argentina whose culture was historically shaped by immigrants from Spain and Italy is commonly described as the place the rich and famous visit when Europe becomes uncomfortable cold in the winter. Just Googling the phrase, “Paris of the South”, brings up a number of references about Buenos Aires and Argentinian culture in general.
Additionally, I spoke to my friend Andy recently who had just visited Buenos Aires recently after the Argentinian currency had, um, “collapsed”. For $2500 for his entire tour, a car met him at the airport (not a bus or a shuttle), with a driver and an interpreter. He went on to describe how incredible the city was and how much fun he had. Just looking at pictures of the city, I am amazed by the blend of modern and classical architecture and the way the culture has merged the design styles together. The combination of affordability and rich culture makes Buenos Aires, in my opinion, an irresistable place to visit. I may have to stay in a hostel in Paris, France, but in Buenos Aires it will be 4 star treatment the entire trip.
Additionally, the country-side surrounding the city looks amazing, too. Patagonia just seems so rugged and exotic. I can’t help but think that this would be the perfect place to loss yourself and bond with the earth, the air, and the ocean.
